Costco shoppers spot ‘best’ Cadbury chocolate treat that disappeared earlier this year

Cadbury isn’t exactly short of chocolate bars, snacks and desserts to satisfy a sweet tooth, but there are a few products we wish they’d add to the permanent line-up.

One of the ‘best’ items the brand sells is hands down the Creme Egg, which is typically only available for the first few months of the year, launching after Christmas and disappearing after Easter.

Filled with a gooey white and yellow fondant centre, the chocolate egg comes in both milk and white chocolate versions and is an Spring staple. This year it hit supermarket shelves in January, but was axed from supermarkets in the UK at the end of April.

However, if you’ve been missing the sugary treat, there’s good news as it’s currently for sale in Costco and unsurprisingly, the wholesale retailer is selling the chocolate in bulk, so you’ll definitely be able to get your fix (and then some).

Those with a Costco membership card can head down to their nearest Costco warehouse and grab a box of 48 Cadbury Creme Eggs.

The store is selling boxes of milk chocolate ones and boxes of the white chocolate ones for £19.99 each (£23.98 including VAT).

Many will likely be thrilled to get their hands on the product once again, as they’ve been hailed as ‘the best’, ‘a classic’, ‘a childhood favourite’ and ‘delicious’ by Cadbury fans on Reddit.

One person even loved them so much, they rated them a ‘700/10’, which is particularly bold.

How to shop at Costco:

There are 29 Costco warehouses around the UK, with discounts on everything from toiletries and groceries to petrol and big-ticket tech.

You can’t just walk in and start shopping though. Only certain professions can apply for in-store membership (priced from £33.60 per year).

Alongside business owners, qualifying roles include the likes of local government, banking, medicine, education, or the police.

But even if you don’t fall into one of these categories, you may still be able to get in on the savings.

According to MSE, AA, RAC and National Trust Members are also eligible to join at certain locations – including Birmingham, Sheffield and Cardiff.

There is a catch with this kind of membership, though. You can only shop at the location you joined. Once you get the go-ahead, however, all you have to do is show the relevant info at the membership counter and shop ‘til you drop.

If Creme Eggs aren’t for you, don’t worry as Cadbury also has a few new items launching that might be more up your street and these will be available more widely in supermarkets across the UK.

The brand recently announced they’d be launching colour-changing Dairy Milk chocolate bars this summer, as well as a brand new flavour.

A new Iced Latte Dairy Milk will be available in June, which combines smooth coffee cream, biscuit pieces and the classic taste of Cadbury chocolate.

But what’s particularly interesting about this new product isn’t the flavours – it’s the packaging.

That’s because the chocolate bar comes in a temperature-activated packet, which visually transforms when it is chilled.

Yes, that’s right, in a somewhat unexpected move, Cadbury is actively encouraging people to put their chocolate bars in the fridge.

In addition to the iced coffee-inspired new chocolate bar, Cadbury will be adding the colour-changing wrappers to regular Dairy Milk chocolate, so there will be four-limited edition bars available as well. These are all part of a range they are calling ‘Cadbury Dairy Milk Chilled’.
